Project Overview
First Capital Engineering is the Civil Engineer on a team that is tasked with expanding the current Pennsylvania Game Commission building to add office space and conference areas, and reestablish walking paths and drainage patterns around the new building addition.
The team will design and construct a two-story addition connected to the southern end of the west wing of the existing building to allow for better staff interaction to accomplish the strategic plan goals of the agency. This 13,000 SF addition will require separate electrical service connection, a separate fire protection system, and a closed-loop geothermal HVAC system. The bathrooms in the new addition will be connected to existing sanitary sewer lines, however a new stormwater detention pond will be required to accommodate the extra roof drainage.
The additional office and conference space with additional support areas will allow for 30 additional full-time employees, for a total of 150 allowable employees. This will reduce congestion of the existing interior space, improve employee moral and productivity and enhance functional and operational goals. The pathways outside the building will need to be relocated, and the Elmerton Road sidewalk will require zoning review. Utility trenching is required, as well as relocating storm water piping, and mitigation of impervious surfaces.
FCE performed the necessary surveying services to obtain topography, existing, natural and manmade features and the location of all utility lines. A base map has been prepared showing the overall tract boundary, on-site improvements, and ground topography of the premises with spot elevations and ground contours.
Ordinance review, a schematic design and a land development plan are included in the FCE scope, including plans for existing conditions, site layout, grading and utility, erosion & sedimentation control and NPDES permitting if required.
