Project Overview
The purpose of the Concord Road project was to close a gap in the roadway system between North Northern Way and Mt. Zion Road (S.R. 0024) thereby diverting a substantial amount of traffic from East Market Street (S.R. 0462). This had a traffic calming effect for the entire area, reducing traffic volume and increasing pedestrian safety.
Overall, this project involved the construction of approximately 3,000 LF of roadway, at-grade railroad crossing, grading of the site, a four-foot wide concrete sidewalk, streetlights, storm-sewer system and accessible ramps.
FCE served as the prime consultant and was responsible for complete contract administration. Our team completed a topographic survey of the site, prepared the construction drawings including all roadway and drainage structure design, including an at-grade rail crossing of a Norfolk-Southern rail line. In addition, we provided construction inspection services during the construction of the roads, sidewalks and curbs on behalf of Springettsbury Township throughout the life of the project.
Coordination meetings were held with Norfolk Southern Railroad Company, York County Conservation District, PennDOT and Township Officials. Funding for this project was provided by PennDOT and Springettsbury Township.
