Survey Party Chief

Position Overview

First Capital Engineering, Inc., a successful multi-disciplinary firm with excellent client relationships, seeks an energetic, survey party chief. Our staff is the key to our success. This individual shall team with other in-house professionals to offer superior services while working in an enjoyable environment. Positions not only have opportunities for advancement but also have the opportunity to be mentored by various Registered Professionals. Our projects are located in the Baltimore Corridor and South Central Pennsylvania.

Technical Requirements:

The survey party chief must be proficient in all aspects of land surveying during field operations, including proper measures, methods and standards acceptable within the industry and specific to the equipment used. This position will require the supervision of others in the execution of boundary surveys, topographical surveys, control surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, as-built surveys and all aspects of construction staking.

Job Responsibilities 

  • • Lead survey crew in executing field surveys accurately and efficiently
  • • Supervise survey crew members in proper surveying technique/ equipment operations
  • • Provide leadership in vehicle, instrument and equipment care and maintenance
  • • Develop thorough and accurate field notes, survey reports and calculations
  • • Proactively provide routine communications to supervisors
  • • Five years crew chief experience
  • • Proficiency with robotic and GPS survey instruments
  • • Proficiency using data collection software
  • • Must be available to travel and work overtime

Equipment and Software Preferences:

  • • Leica GPS
  • • Leica Robotic Total Stations
  • • Leica Viva field software
  • • Carlson SurvCEsoftware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • • Construction staking from surface files
  • • Direct experience with equipment listed above
  • • Data import and export experience

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $25.00 to $30.00 /hour
