Sheetz – Straban Township, Adams County, PA

First Capital Engineering has served as the civil engineer for many Sheetz locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including the location in Straban Township, Adams County, PA. 

FCE provided the land surveying, conceptual site designs, zoning support and final approval plans for the total re-build of the Sheetz Convenience Store, constructed 14 years ago. This new and updated Sheetz store will feature a “green” design that is larger and more spacious with a drive-thru feature, supporting the Sheetz Made-To-Order food component. 

The challenge with the site design was planning and coordinating the new building, fuel canopy and circulation around the existing facility in order to minimize business disruption during construction. This strategy and the resulting site design required additional land (subdivision, lot add-ons) and the extension of the adjoining future Township road. 

Close coordination with the municipality, Adams County Conservation District, multiple property owners and local utility companies was required in order to arrive at an accommodating design. Sketch plans and zoning approvals within a year prior to land development was necessitated by the municipality’s change in ordinance requirements during the 14 years since the original Sheetz was approved.
